Greenwood Academies Trust
The Newark Hill Academy is sponsored by the Greenwood Academies Trust which was formed in 2009 and now educates approximately 16,000 pupils across seven local authority areas including Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Leicester City, Northamptonshire, Peterborough, Lincolnshire and Central Bedfordshire. The Trust has an excellent track record in school improvement and an established background in educational experience and expertise. The Welland Academy, Bishop Creighton Academy, Dogsthorpe Academy, Stanground Academy, City of Peterborough Academy and CoPA Special School are all part of our new family of schools.
The Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust was formed by the Governing Body of the outstanding Greenwood Dale School in Nottingham. Greenwood Dale was one of the first two schools in the country to be allowed to set up its own Foundation to sponsor Academies. The Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust and the Greenwood Academies Trust are led by the Chief Executive, Wayne Norrie, who is responsible for the overall success of all Academies, new opportunities, vision and all central functions.
The Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust is the sponsor organisation. The Greenwood Academies Trust is the operational arm, employing all staff and managing the finances and other central services for the Academies in the group. These services include educational challenge and support, finance, ICT, procurement, HR, catering, data, health and safety and extended opportunities for pupils. GDFT Academies are led by outstanding Principals. Whilst working to achieve our organisational core values each Principal is free to develop the curriculum and structures within their own Academy to best serve the community they serve. The GDFT does not impose a standard central curriculum or structure. GDFT have created a Trust where each Academy can evolve individually, developing best practice that can be shared both within the Trust and more widely.
