RSE - Relationships and Sex Education.
A programme of sex education for Year 6 children takes place in the Summer Term. The class teachers, in co-operation with the school nurse, focus on a programme of work over a number of weeks. In these sessions children consider aspects of personal hygiene, the physical and emotional changes in puberty, human reproduction and media representation of sex and relationships.
A session, which shares the content and allows parents to ask questions about the programme of work, is arranged in advance of the teaching sessions with pupils.
Parents may withdraw their children from Sex Education sessions if they so wish, by arrangement with the Principal.
